Improve Care for Individuals with Intellectual and Developmental Disabilities while in the Emergency Room

  • NJACP supports draft legislation that requires training for staff working in the state’s hospital emergency rooms.
  • Individuals with IDD often have specialized needs with regard to dietary, behavioral, and other issues when not approached appropriately, can be compromised. It is critical stressors, and trauma are minimized for these individuals when they are seeking emergent care.
