Many NJ Hospitals Reinstating Masking Requirements in Anticipation of Increased Respiratory Illness
Hospitals across New Jersey have reinstated masking requirements in anticipation of the seasonal uptick in respiratory infections.
- At the hospitals within the Hackensack Meridian system, those visiting inpatients are being asked to mask up at least until the end of January.
- At the 14 medical centers within the RWJ/Barnabas system, the requirement goes even farther, extending also to medical staff when caring for patients.
- State health data shows small upticks in ER visits by those with COVID and RSV, but a spike in flu cases that rivals the numbers seen last year at this time.
