Valerie Sellers, MHA, CHE

Chief Executive Office

NJACP’s Chief Executive Officer, Valerie Sellers, joined the Association in 2013, with seventeen years of experience as a senior executive with the New Jersey Hospital Association where she had multiple departments and areas of oversight including regulatory, managed care, HIPAA, community health, and research conducted by NJHA’s Health Research and Education Trust. As a consultant, Ms. Sellers worked with a variety of clients, including hospitals, in assessing community health status and assisting with mergers and acquisitions of community organizations. Her experience with the healthcare community was extremely valuable during NJACP members’ transition to Fee-for-Service, and will help prepare providers with future changes. Ms. Sellers previously served on Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in Hamilton, NJ. She was appointed to Governor Murphy’s Healthcare Transition Team and was a Governor appointee to the Independent Developmental Disability Fee-for-Service Transition Oversight Board. For several years, Ms. Sellers also served as the chair of the NJ Coalition for a DSP Living Wage, which successfully advocated for wage increases in the NJ state budgets for Direct Support/frontline worker staff.

Maureen Shea
Director, Government Affairs

Having worked for several large non-profit associations in the state, Maureen brings over 30 years of Association leadership experience; with expertise specific to federal and state advocacy, grassroots organization, lobbying, legislative and regulatory analysis, managing million-dollar political action committees and policy development. Her background includes work on major issues such as Medicaid, physician reimbursement, housing, real estate, and development of the now regularly used seller disclosure process, education policy, Meghan’s Law, and other issues. Consistent, successful lobbying and policy campaigns have improved the environment which organizations and their membership operate. Maureen’s responsibilities also include overseeing many aspects of the NJACP’s communications efforts, from social media, editing and writing newsletters, and press review to ensure NJACP’s message is effectively disseminated and resonates with stakeholders, policymakers, and others.

Colleen B. Klepser
Director, Administration and Events

Joining NJACP in 2017, Colleen has extensive administration, operations, events, and training experience in for-profit and nonprofit sectors. Colleen’s administrative and operations background includes grants management; IT support; human resources; accounts payable/receivable; estimating/pricing; developing new processes and trainings; event planning for awards, workshops and conferences; as well as volunteer service, including fundraising, for nonprofit groups. At NJACP, Colleen is responsible for membership and strategic partner recruitment and retention; training programs; event planning, and some administrative functions. She holds a BS in Business Communications and Advertising from Marietta College.

Tori Villafana
Office Manager

Joining NJACP in 2018 as NJACP’s Office Assistant, Tori was promoted to Office Manager in 2023. She has over 15 years of experience as a Direct Support Professional (DSP) in addition to her work with the NJ Department of Child Protection and Permanency as a mentor with at-risk youth and worked with the mediation section at the NJ Superior Court. Combined with administrative experience, Tori’s unique perspective has supported NJACP’s advocacy efforts and implemented effective office procedures, streamlining, and optimizing the member experience at all levels, including her primary responsibilities for office operations and liaison to the NJACP Board of Directors. She also assists the CEO with special and ongoing projects and contributes to the operations of the DSP Career Center.

Ryan Levine
Communications and Social Media Coordinator

Ryan is the newest member of the NJACP team having joined in September of 2023. They have over 6 years of experience in the Communications field and over 4 years of experience within the non-profit sector. Their experience includes social media and website management, content creation, email marketing, and more. Originally from Baltimore, Maryland, Ryan moved to Philadelphia in August of 2023. They are excited to work for NJACP and help expand their branding and messaging.

Tonya Key-Rice
Office Assistant

Tonya joined the Association in 2023 as the Administrative/Office Assistant. She has worked in the Administrative field for over 30 years. Tonya comes to us from Toll Brothers, where she served as the Administrative/HR Assistant. She brings the experience to provide foundational support for the organization’s members, activities, and administrative needs.
