2026 Advocacy Day
NJACP Members.
You joined us in Trenton! You MADE a Difference! On June 1, 2026 IDD Advocacy Day at the Statehouse, we wore our advocacy gear…our t-shirts and buttons 2026… we demonstrated that the IDD community is united; and lawmakers indeed saw the strength of our field.
Your presence mattered. Your voice mattered. Together, we helped protect and sustain the services and supports people with intellectual and developmental disabilities rely on every day.
Lawmakers heard from our members. In this challenging budget environment, silence was not an option.
We Still Won!
While we did not achieve our ultimate goal of a 3% budget increase, there was no budget cut. We were able to stop a request from the New Jersey Health Care Association (HCANJ), which represents nursing homes, from encourages lawmakers to shift HCBS funding to nursing homes as part of its budget request.
Thank you for standing with us in Trenton.
But the work continues; the fight does not end. We cannot stop. Legislation on the horizon will impact the IDD community in ways that is not intentioned, and will not improve the quality of care. We must continue to educate and advocate. Every day. Because the individuals that depend on us need us to show up for them every day.
